SHERIDAN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT #2
Sheridan County School District #2
covers Sheridan, Banner, Wolf, Wyarno, and part of Story. For the fourth consecutive year, Sheridan County School District #2 is the top-performing district academically in Wyoming. The district currently has six elementary schools, two junior high schools, and two high schools. Elementary schools go from kindergarten to fifth grade. The junior high schools cover sixth through eighth grades and the high schools are ninth through twelfth grades.
The elementary schools are:
Henry A. Coffeen Elementary School, 1053 S. Sheridan Avenue;
Highland Park Elementary School, 2 Mydland Road;
Meadowlark Elementary School, 1410 DeSmet Avenue;
Sagebrush Elementary School, 1685 Hillpond Drive;
Woodland Park Elementary School, 1010 E. Woodland Park Road, all in Sheridan;
Story Elementary School, 103 Fish Hatchery Road, Story, WY.
The junior high schools are:
Sheridan Junior High School, 500 Lewis Street;
The Wright Place (Middle School), 1301 Avon Street.
The high schools are:
Sheridan High School, 1056 Long Drive;
Fort Mackenzie High School, 1301 Avon Street.
The Wright Place and Fort Mackenzie High School are alternative schools. The Wright Place is for students who feel overwhelmed by the size of the junior high school and need a smaller, more intimate setting, and for students with academic and behavioral challenges. Fort Mackenzie High School focuses “on individual learning styles, varied assessments and a flexible pace” for students who difficulty in a traditional school setting.
SHERIDAN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT #1
Sheridan County School District #1 covers Big Horn, Dayton and Ranchester areas. District 1 follows a 4 day school week and has a small student to teacher ratio, with 25-40 per graduating class. These schools excel with top performances in the state in the areas of academics, athletics, art, debate, Future Business Leaders of America and Destination Imagination.
The district is comprised of:
Big Horn Elementary, Middle and High School, US Hwy 335, Big Horn, Wyoming;
Tongue River Elementary and Middle School, US Hwy 14, Ranchester, Wyoming;
Tongue River High School, US Hwy 14 Dayton, Wyoming.
SHERIDAN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT #3
Sheridan County School District #3, covering Arvada, Clearmont and Ucross. This school is situated in a rural setting, has a 6:1 student to teacher ratio and follows a 4 day school week. The students have many opportunities to participate in athletics and other extracurricular activities. This district is comprised of Arvada-Clearmont Elementary, Middle and High School, Meade Ave. Clearmont, Wyoming.
